Normanby Station, Balnggarrawarra Country

Kids, Culture & Music

a mini documentary for the project made in collaboration with Studio Koedal

The music bootcamp at Normanby Station was a collaborative effort between Topology and the Black Image band (the Harrigan’s). Held over six days, the bootcamp brought together students from remote areas for an immersive and inspiring experience. The goal was to provide these young people with not only access to music, but also a unique environment outside the traditional classroom setting. Throughout the project, the students were mentored by Topology and the Black Image band, learning to play instruments, write music, and perform. The bootcamp also incorporated outdoor activities and cultural education, offering a deeper connection to the history and significance of the location, culminating in a performance of their final pieces.

Real people, real stories....these pieces truly captured the essence of this Creative Bootcamp

- Christa Powell, Topology Creative Director

I felt incredibly fortunate to be part of this project and collaborate with such incredible people. Watching the students' creativity unfold and their confidence grow, with the support of Topology and Black Image, outside the traditional classroom setting was an unforgettable experience. Equally enriching was the chance to learn from the Harrigan brothers on their land, gaining deep insights into their culture and history.
